Abstract

Out of 90 national CPI monitoring cities, 43 cities experienced inflation and 47 cities experienced deflation. The highest inflation occurred in Lhokseumawe by 0.64 percent and the highest deflation occurred in Timika by 1.91 percent. Palangka Raya ranks 25th highest deflation city at the national level.

Deflation in Palangka Raya by 0.20 percent was mainly influenced by the decline in the transportation group price index by 1.24 percent; followed by the food, beverage and tobacco group by 0.46 percent; information, communication and financial services by 0.10 percent; housing, water, electricity and household fuels by 0.03 percent; and the recreation, sports and culture group by 0.03 percent. While the group that experienced an increase in the price index were household appliances, equipment and routine maintenance by 0.19 percent; the personal care group and other services by 1.08 percent.

The March 2020 calendar year inflation rate is 0.37 percent and the year-on-year inflation rate (March 2020 against March 2019) is 2.03 percent.
