Abstract

Out of the 90 cities monitored by the national CPI, 72 cities experienced inflation and 18 cities experienced deflation. The highest inflation occurred in Kotamobagu at 1.31 percent and the highest deflation occurred in Jayapura at 1.26 percent. Palangka Raya ranks 15th highest deflationary city at the national level.

Deflation in Palangka Raya by 0.06 percent was mainly influenced by a decrease in the price index for the food, beverage and tobacco category by 0.38 percent; the recreation, sports, and culture group by 0.25 percent; and transportation group 0.17 percent. While the group that experienced an increase in the price index were the equipment, equipment and household routine maintenance group by 0.41 percent; the personal care and other services group of 0.40 percent; the information, communication and financial services group of 0.19 percent; clothing and footwear group by 0.14 percent; the housing, water, electricity, and household fuel group of 0.07 percent; the food and beverage / restaurant supply group by 0.04 percent; and the health group by 0.04 percent.
The inflation rate for the calendar year April 2021 is 0.54 percent and the year-on-year inflation rate (April 2021 against April 2020) is 0.98 percent.
