May 2020, the number of guests staying at star hotels fell by 16.96%

Abstract

The number of guests staying at star hotels fell by 16.96 percent, from 2,971 people (April 2020) to 2,467 people (May 2020). The number of guests staying at non-star hotels also dropped 0.83 percent, from 26,893 people (April 2020) to 26,669 people (May 2020).
  • Cumulatively, the number of guests staying at star hotels fell 46.15 percent, from 116,334 people (January-May 2019) to only 62,648 people (January-May 2020). The number of guests at non-star hotels also fell 9.30 percent, from 268,762 people (January-May 2019) to 243,761 people (January-May 2020).
  • Room occupancy rate (ROR) of star hotels fell 11.30 points, from 25.03 percent (April 2020) to only 13.73 percent (May 2020). In the same period, the ROR for non-star hotels also dropped 0.85 points, from 9.52 percent (April 2020) to only 8.67 percent (May 2020).
  • The average length of stay at a star hotel (1.53 days) is longer than that at non-star hotels (1.20 days).
