Abstract

  • Out of 82 cities monitoring national CPI, 81 cities experienced inflation. The highest inflation occurred in Tual (2.91 percent) and deflation occurred in Merauke (0.49 percent). Palangka Raya and Sampit are ranked 56th and 21st city of the highest inflation at the national level.
  • Inflation in Palangka Raya (0.55 percent) was influenced by an increase in the foodstuffs group price index (1.56 percent) and transportation, communication and financial services (1.03 percent).
  • Inflation in Sampit (1.01 percent) was also affected by the rise in the foodstuffs group price index (2.17 percent) and transportation, communication and financial services (2.02 percent)
  • Based on two reference cities (Palangka Raya and Sampit), Kalimantan Tengah Province experienced inflation (0.72 percent) followed by the inflation rate of the calendar year (1.38 percent) and year-on-year inflation (4.17 percent).
  • Volatile foods and administered prices, synergize in spurring inflation in Palangka Raya and Sampit.
